It's hard to believe that summer is nearly over and we're already seeing the "Back to School" advertisements. I guess this means that it's now appropriate for me to offer my Collage Skirt formula as one of my favorite Back To School knitting projects! I've been making these skirts for more than 10 years now, and three things keep me coming back to make another: The near-instant gratification of a finished project. The ability to clear out a fair amount of stash yarn with this formula. The creativity-unleashed method of color & texture blending. This project employs an "everything but the kitchen sink" approach to stash-busting. Random bits of leftover sock yarn combined with DK and/or worsted weights are held together to form a chunky weight yarn that is uniquely yours. I of course, went along with the notion that I really “didn’t need any more yarn”, but quickly fell under the influence of this luscious Cashmara yarn, beautifully dyed by Pat, from Fly Designs—and when Sharon suggested that we both should get some —well, it just seemed rude not to! Half-Full Moon pattern is now live! This has been a fun one to knit (in fact, I have made 3 of them so far)! Half-Full Moon is a quick little crescent-shaped shawl which sports a pretty lace border. It packs a whole lot of drape and color into its frame as well! Shawl can be made up in any weight yarn which will make this an all weather favorite! See my "Cast On" page for info. on where to find a downloadable copy of this pattern.
